What to know about music on Hamilton Island

There are no private cars

Everything on Hamilton Island moves by buggy, and a full PA does not fit in one. Equipment transport is arranged with the resort in advance, and it is the single most common thing couples are surprised by when planning music here.

Getting gear to the island

All equipment arrives by ferry or barge, which means the schedule is fixed and there is no way to nip back for a forgotten cable. Redundancy is packed as standard, because a missing part cannot be solved on the day.

Hilltop ceremonies and wind

One Tree Hill is spectacular and exposed. Wind noise across a microphone can ruin a recording of your vows even when guests hear them fine in person, so windshielding and speaker placement are planned for the specific spot rather than the general area.

Sunset timing is not negotiable

Hilltop ceremonies here are usually timed to sunset, which means the music timeline runs backwards from a fixed point. Arrival music length gets set by when your guests are actually on site, not by the plan.

How is equipment moved around the island?

By buggy and resort transport, arranged ahead of the day with the venue. A full PA will not fit in a standard buggy, so this is confirmed during planning rather than assumed.

Do you bring your own PA and equipment?

Yes. A full PA, microphones, stands and cabling are included in every package, along with setup and pack-down. For beach and lawn ceremonies away from mains power, battery-powered sound covers the ceremony without needing a generator.

Can you play both the ceremony and the reception?

Yes. The most common booking in the Whitsundays covers arrival and ceremony music, then canapés, then the reception, up to four hours of live music across the day. Ceremony-only bookings are also available.

Will you learn our first dance song?

Yes. One song of your choosing is learned and performed live as part of the ceremony and reception package, at no extra cost. Requests for the rest of the day are welcome from a repertoire of over 500 songs.

How far in advance should we book?

For Whitsundays weddings in the peak May to September season, six to twelve months ahead is sensible, since the same weekends fill quickly across every island. Shorter notice is often still possible outside peak season.

Do you travel between the mainland and the islands?

Yes. Airlie Beach, Hamilton Island, Long Island, Hayman Island and Daydream Island are all covered, and island transfers and equipment logistics are handled as part of the booking rather than left to you.

What style of music do you play?

Solo acoustic guitar and vocals, drawing on folk, blues, pop, soul and country. Sets range from quiet background music during canapés to an upbeat set for a dance floor, and the tone is matched to the room rather than fixed in advance.
